Fatahillah Museum
This museum also known as The Jakarta History Museum or the Museum of Batavia.This museum is the largest museum in Jakarta and located in Batavia the Old City area. In this museum you can trace the history of Jakarta from prehistoric times to the founding of the city Jayakarta in 1527. Also dangling from the time series history of Indonesia's Independence in 1945. Fatahillah Museum occupies two long buildings in the Old City of Batavia area which was formerly the City Hall Building (Stadhuis).The building was built in 1707 by order of the Governor-General Joanvan Hoon and just finished in 1712. After experiencing some changes in function, the building was designated as the Jakarta History Museum on March 30, 1974.
Fatahillah Museum Jakarta currently storing approximately 25,000 objects ranging from prehistoric collection until the collection of this century. Here you can find the inscription which is a Ciaruteun relic from Tarumanegara kingdom. There is also the robust cannon, the first statue of the god Hermes which was the god of the European merchants luck and protection, Kampung Baru Mosque pulpit, the dungeon where Untung Suropati (1670) and Prince Diponegoro (1830) had been detained. and there is also a fountain in the middle of the park that was once the City Hall fountain. Here you can also see antique furniture from the 17th century to 19 which is a fusion European style, China, and Indonesia. There is also a collection of ceramics, pottery, and stone inscriptions. Also stored in a diverse collection of Betawi culture here. Fatahillah Museum is also equipped with cafe that has the nuance of Jakarta in earlier times, souvenir shop, mosque, meeting and exhibition space, and parks. |
